Got into Columbus, Ohio early this morning and dropped the load. Had no more than finalled out when Ed sent me new load info. Picking up in Hebron, Ohio in the morning for a load that delivers in Raleigh, NC on the 27th. Basically, that means that I'll go home tomorrow, and then run the load up to Raleigh on the 27th, and then go back home for the remainder of my home time. Works for me.

I faxed my trainer application to U.S. Xpress, but don't know when (or if) I'll be hearing from them in regard to it. Naturally, Mara and I don't much know what we'll be doing after Christmas. A lot depends on U.S. Xpress. If U.S. won't let me train, I may stay in B&L's Peterbilt until Mara is out of training, and then do the sponsorship thing. We'll see.

Had a nice surprise today. Our checking account balance is now around $916. B&L made a nice deposit. I wonder if some of that is our tax bonus, though. Either way, it comes at a good time. We may not have been able to get Mama a computer for Christmas, but we'll have a good Christmas all the same.

Oh! Before I forget, I need to jot down some lyrics.

Mary walked into the bar
On a whim one Friday night.
She said, “Listen boys, let's not be coy
Is there a man in sight?
I got needs that need fulfillin'
And a bottle of Mulberry wine,
If your meat goes one foot deep,
I can blow your mind.”

She's gonna ride.
Little Mary's gonna ride. (2x)

Who should be there drinking,
But a man above the rest.
His uniform was nicely worn.
He had medals upon his chest.
He rose to meet the challenge,
With a deep and manly laugh.
“Pleased to make your acquaintance,”
Said Sergeant Richard Biggerstaff.

Something like that. I know it's a little blue, but I think it'd be funny. And, well, these lyrics sort of wrote themselves. Gives new life to "The Ride," which I never really though I'd use.
