Winter Storm 2007!

Maxton, North Carolina. Picking up the dreaded Canada load. It iced up a little here, along with a little snow. It looked iffy earlier, but it's just raining now.

As is usual in North Carolina when more than three snowflakes are in the air at the same time, people here were flipping out. Coming down the off-ramp to the shipper, I got stuck behind a truck driver who was literally doing 10 miles per hour (on the off-ramp!). Geez. That's more of a road hazard than that little bit of slush on the road.

I'm not claiming to be Super-Trucker here, even though I do joke about how I've been to Wyoming (“and this ain't snow!”). I'm from North Carolina, remember. I live here. It's mystified me since I was a kid why it is that every winter when there's the least bit of ice or snow, most adults act like they've never seen the stuff before. Oh, my God. It's snowing! Should we go to the grocery store and buy six to eight weeks of provisions? What if the power goes out? It's 40 degrees outside! We'll all die!

I wonder what the folks in St. Thomas, Ontario would think of this little bit of white on the ground, which will be washed away by the rain in a few more hours . I imagine the Canadians have an entirely different concept of what constitutes “winter conditions”.
