Greensboro, NC. I'm at a hotel. Tomorrow morning I start orientation at Epes Transport. I never mentioned this. Long story short, they called me Thursday, and I confirmed on Friday. So here I am.
It's going to be interesting getting through orientation. I have about $4 in my pocket. Epes will buy our lunch every day of orientation, but there'll be no supper for the kid. Well, it's not like I've never been in these tight spots before. Besides, I'm certainly someone who can stand to skip a few meals.
I suppose I should be a little nervous about tomorrow. I think we'll be taking our road tests tomorrow. I haven't driven a straight shift in three years. But I don't imagine it's something you really forget. Still, I hope all goes well.
I'll get paid for orientation, and they're going to reimburse me for our gas coming up here. That should be enough money to get me through the rest of the week. From there, I hope things go well. I'm making more money this time and I hear that freight is a lot better, so I think I'll probably be with Epes for a long, long time. I'm trying to be positive about all this, but I suspect that I've built up too much scar tissue through the years dealing with U.S. Xpress. I don't like to get my hopes up.
