U.S. Xpress may have finally ended my driving career with them. Not immediately, of course, but they're certainly not giving me any reason to stick around. I delivered yesterday morning at around 06:00 in Cranbury, New Jersey.. Then I came down to Bordentown to get some sleep. Around 18:00 last night they finally give me a load going to Ohio, but they immediately take it off of me. They replaced it with a load that doesn't pick up until 22:00 tonight. And you know what? It'll be a standby load. That means that there's at least a chance that I won't get a load at all. I told Mara that I thought USX had pretty much done me in. We're really hurting right now. I keep expecting that the freight will pick up, but it never does. I'm looking at maybe 1200 miles for the week. I can't live off of that. So once Mara gets settled in with her new job, I think I'm done. I had kind of planned to stick around for a while, but how could I? This is rediculous. I don't know how they're staying in business. There were four other USX trucks at that shipper yesterday morning. Of the four, three of the drivers were planning on leaving the company as soon as possible. The only one who had plans of staying had just started.

I'm going to talk to my dispatcher Monday morning and see if anything can be done. But I'd rather just go home. I can't do that right now because Mara isn't settled. But it's not like I'm making any money out here. I need to run, and what miles they're giving me are book-ended by a lot of sitting. I just can't do this.
