Just saw a road sign that said “report suspicious activity” and gave a number. Struck me as Orwellian. I realize that with the threat of terrorism a very real possibiity, this sort of thing is a good idea, in theory. It just worries me that we're going to become a culture of paranoid assholes. Seems to me that if that happens, the terrorists win.

I also sometimes think that we're being whipped into a frenzy as a part of an effort to control the general population. I'm amazed at the liberties that people are perfectly willing to just give away to fight this phantom. Terrorists must be dealt with, but the Government wants us to roll over and hike up our skirts, and most Americans already have their legs in the air.
