In spite of myself, I think I kind of like this yard work. I guess if I were to do this every day I would complain every morning, like everyone else. But I really like this 8 hour day stuff. Of course, that constitutes a sizeable cut in pay. But it's been nice to get to pretend to have a normal life for a while. Even getting home every weekend with Epes I most often feel like a mule that exists for no other purpose than to pull heavy things. We couldn't afford for me to keep this job, even if it were to be offered to me (which it won't be). But it's been nice getting to pretend to be human.

Still, I'm kind of looking forward to getting back on the road. God help me.
