I haven't had much to say in regard to the whole Terry Schiavo thing. I didn't, and still don't, think much good could come of it. But I have to admit that I'm beside myself watching how people on the Right have turned her into some kind of martyr, twisting and distorting the truth. I just ran across a web site that had on its main page a doctored photo of Terry Schiavo that made it look like she was sitting up in a hospital bed, healthy and aware. They took an old photo of her before she was sick and put flowers around her like she was in the hospital. I just don't understand how people can be this stupid. The woman was brain dead. These idiots who tried to smuggle in water to her couldn't comprehend that she couldn't swallow it. It's not, as some thought, that she was too weak to do so, she didn't have the motor coordination to do so. She was like a computer running on its bios with no operating system. It really breaks my heart when I see how balatantly people have been lied to; about her condition, about her chances of recovery, about her wishes. Her husband has been demonized. Hospice, for Christ's sake, has been demonized. What the hell is wrong with people? Have we gone through the looking glass?
