Mara is at the truck stop getting the truck ready to go. We're heading back out after a week off. We both feel like we're going back to prison. On the upside, we'll be home for Thanksgiving. But on the downside, we'll have to work straight through next Monday. That didn't work out too well the last time because we ran low on hours. We'll see. We never took the truck to Charlotte to have it worked on, so we'll still have the same old problems to deal with this week. We're fucking lazy.
My heart is really heavy right now. We searched the house this morning for our Bose headphones but didn't find them. However Mama wants to spin it, if it's gone the only person who could have picked it up would be a Short (meaning, most likely, one of Mark's boys). That hurts. We've tried so hard to help them out. We've given Mark around $1,000. Now, he's worked for it. He painted Mama's bedroom and he's stripped the trim and walls in the bathroom of paint (though he cost me $300 in ReadyStrip Pro because he used too much of it). But quite frankly, he hasn't earned $1,000; unless, of course, you put him on an hourly wage. He's been at this for almost 2 months. Now, that's not to say that he's been working steady. An hour here, an hour there. A day one week. A couple of days another work. Come to think about it, if you summed his pay up as an hourly wage, it still wouldn't come out to $1,000.
I'm not trying to bash Mark here. He's really helped. I suppose more than anything I'm just really hurt that our ($300 Bose) headphones are gone. I'm trying not to jump to conclusions. I assumed someone had stolen our door, and it turned out to be in the far corner on the front porch. But I can't find another explanation for what could have happened to those headphones. I know where they were at. I was the only who used them last week. And I know exactly where I put them when I was finished with them.
This is not a good way to start a week.
