Pioneer, Tennessee. Just had a run-in with a Neanderthal who took exception to the fact that I was discussing last night's Presidential debates with the guy behind the fuel desk (I'm at the Pilot truck stop), and I was not fond of Bush. He inserted himself into the conversation, saying "Kerry's a loser." I'm never prepared for this bullshit, and I'm always nicer than I should be.
I asked the guy; "why do you say that?" He said "He's a flip-flopper; he can't make up his mind on anything." I said, "You need to stop listening to Fox News, driver." He said "I didn't get it from Fox News, it came straight from Kerry's mouth." I said, "I didn't hear anything like that; the only crap I hear like that comes from Bush."
I wasn't in the mood for it, so I left. All I said was "spin, spin, spin." bur when I got back to the truck I felt ashamed of myself. Sure, I challenged the guy, but I didn't stand my ground. I'm really tired of these big-mouthed rednecks thinking that they can come up and start running their mouths at me because I don't think like they do. I'm of the opinion that I need to stop being so polite and start getting in some people's faces.
I imagine the next time someone takes it upon himself to start running his mouth, he's going to get a reaction he won't expect. I've acting like my Mama, being too polite for my own good, and I've just been getting increasingly frustrated because of it. I think it's about time I started looking these people in the eye and saying "you, sir, are a fucking idiot."
