Violated in Georgia

Just had a weird experience in a weigh station in GA. They called in a bunch of trucks (myself included), and when I got up to the officers who were standing out there, one opened my gas tank, stuck in a plastic or paper strip, looked at the other one and said “Okay”. Then they closed my gas cap and waved me on. I felt vaguely violated.
