Familiar Roads
About 16 miles south of Bridgeport, Michigan, where I spent the night. I'm headed over to Chicago to pick up a load that delivers on Monday in Statesville, North Carolina. So this is my home load.
It's about 300 miles over to Chicago. And from there it's about 700 miles to Kings Mountain. So it's going to be a long day.
The smart thing to do would have been to run over into the Chicago area yesterday and just made my pick-up this morning. But by the time I was finally dispatched on this load, I didn't have it in me. I made my last delivery in Richville on fumes as it was. By the time I was finally dispatched later in the afternoon, I was done.
Oh, well. I don't think I can be in KM by tonight. So I'm just going to do what I can and figure on finishing up tomorrow morning.
I'm kind of looking forward to this trip. Mara and I ran a dedicated run from North Cove, NC up into the Chicago area and back four times a week for a year and a half. So this is going to be like the last of those trips for the week, and I'm going to be heading home on very familiar roads. Sometimes the journey itself is the fun part.
