Monday Morning Ramblings

I'm in the early stages of making a mad dash to my 08:00 delivery in Austell, Georgia. I meant to leave a full hour earlier than I did. But when I got up this morning and started moving around I felt like I was going to pass out. Being upright didn't seem to be working out too well for me. So I drank some water (which seemed to be called for) and laid back down, hitting the snooze until I just had to get up (and felt confident I could do so without pitching over onto the floor). I still feel a little odd, but the dizziness is gone. Now I just feel a slight queasiness.

Honestly, I feel like I just need a good 10-12 hours of sleep in the arms of some beautiful Brazilian babe. Okay, so I could do without the babe (if I have to). But I'm serious about the sleep. Haven't had a full sleep period since last Tuesday.

I have a few things on my mind this morning. But I think I'll write about them all separately. Maybe I'll have enough to say to get me down to Atlanta without acknowledging how sleepy I must be. I fully intend to power right through.

And don't give me any shit about tired truck drivers being a road hazard. At my most exhausted, I'm still a better driver than your average four-wheeler. And don't whine at me about how my reflexes and reaction time are lessened, either. Duh. I know that. You compensate by allowing yourself much more lead time, and backing off whenever someone jumps into your comfort zone.

Speaking of which, here's a tidbit for all the clueless four-wheelers out there. That nice big gap that most trucks leave between one another is there for a reason. It's a space in which the driver in the rear is leaving room, and therefore time, for him to react if the driver in front has to slow down suddenly. That space has not been left there for the convenience of the drivers of automobiles. In fact, if you squeeze yourself in between two trucks, you are effectively placing yourself between the hammer and the anvil, and you're betting your life the drivers of those trucks are capable of reacting to your stupidity, and thereby potentially saving you from yourself.
