I just finished writing letters to my brother, Justin Lovelace, and my cousin, Joann Turner. I haven't been very good at staying in touch with either of them. Of course, Justin doesn't seem like he wants to stay in touch. I've written him e-mail, but he doesn't write back. I've called and left messages, but he doesn't call back. I wonder if he wants me to fuck off for some reason, but just doesn't want to say it. It's not much better with Joann. I wish I could change it with both of them.

I just thought about my uncle, Allen Lovelace. I don't think I've mentioned it, but we've finalized the plans for his Lovelace reunion at the Kings Mountain Battleground in May. I'm really fortunate to have found Allen. He's quite a guy. Upon hearing from me, Allen just opened his arms to me, an unknown nephew. Not a lot of people would have done that. Most people would not have wanted to hear from someone they didn't know. It's a shame that Allen never got to know my father, Bob (his half-brother), and vice-versa. And I have to admit that it's damned strange, at the age of 38, to suddenly have Lovelace family. I'm going to make the most of it. And I hope that some day Justin will come around.
